New Everton manager Frank Lampard is reportedly hoping that former assistant Duncan Ferguson will stay at the club as a member of his coaching staff.

New Everton manager Frank Lampard wants Duncan Ferguson to be part of his staff, according to a report.

The former Chelsea boss took over the vacant role on Sunday, with the Toffees having fired Rafael Benitez after the recent defeat against Norwich City in the Premier League.

According to Paul Joyce, Lampard would like Ferguson to remain with the club as part of his staff, but it is unknown exactly what role the former caretaker manager would have.

The 50-year-old had been working as the assistant manager for both Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti, but Paul Clement will be taking up that role under the new regime.

Ferguson had applied for the role alongside Lampard, but Everton opted to choose the former England international instead, casting question marks over what the Scot will do next.

Everton will be in action on February 5 as they face Brentford in the FA Cup, which will be Lampard's first game in charge.
