France winger Franck Ribery has admitted that they would like to avoid Croatia and Portugal in the World Cup playoff draw.

Les Bleus could only muster a second-place finish in Group G, despite their 3-0 win over Finland on Tuesday night, and the Bayern Munich star said that he would like to avoid both sides when the draw is made on October 21.

"We will have to be men and make the best of both games, to do everything to go to Brazil. It's a World Cup. We hope to be able to avoid Portugal and Croatia," Ribery told TF1.

"I have no preference for the playoffs, but it is true that playing against Portugal, who have Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, is different. We will switch our preparation to these games.

"We had the ambition to be the winner of this group, but it's good to see that we can also play this kind of game and score three goals, especially compared to what awaits us in November."

Ribery opened the scoring against Finland with the opening goal after nine minutes.
