Hamburger SV manager Bert van Marwijk has claimed that the club is "destroying itself" amid a boardroom disagreement over his future.
Van Marwijk took over as manager of the German outfit in September but has endured a torrid run of form recently, losing six league games in a row to leave them second from bottom in the Bundesliga table.
The most recent loss - a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Hertha Berlin - was followed by demonstrations outside the ground by fans, who blocked the players' exit and pelted them with objects when they tried to leave.
"I've never experienced anything like what I've seen here these last few days. I get the feeling the club is destroying itself," Van Marwijk told reporters.
Hamburg chief executive Carl Jarchow revealed yesterday that the board opted to continue with Van Marwijk, although reports suggest that opinion is split regarding his future.
