Lille have consolidated third spot in Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win over Toulouse on Sunday.

It was the away side who started the better and Ctienne Didot might have opened the scoring after just one minute, but he fired wide.

Lille moved ahead in the match after 12 minutes, however, when Eden Hazard converted a penalty after he had been felled in the penalty area by Daniel Congre.

Hazard almost added a second for the home side after 17 minutes, but his effort was pushed away by Ali Ahamada in the Toulouse goal.

Lille did move two ahead, after 31 minutes when Dimitri Payet found the bottom corner after smart work from Hazard.

Toulouse struggled to create any real chances of note in the opening period, and it was Hazard and Payet who came close to Lille's third in stoppage time of the opening half.

Emmanuel Riviere had Toulouse's best chance of the match after 51 minutes, but he struck wide when he might have done better.

Toulouse did secure a route back into the match, however, on the hour mark when Serge Aurier found the back of the net from close range.

Chances remained few and far between in the latter stages of the match, but Pantxi Sirieix so nearly secured a point for Toulouse with 10 minutes remaining, but he struck wide from close range.

It got worse for Sirieix late on when he was shown a red card for a foul on Hazard, as Lille held on for the win.
