Robbie Fowler: 'Mohamed Salah has surprised everyone'

Robbie Fowler says that Mohamed Salah's goalscoring form for Liverpool this season is 'unbelievable and frightening', having struck 30 times in all competitions.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has described Mohamed Salah's debut campaign at Anfield as "frightening" and has backed the Egyptian forward to fire the club to glory.

Salah, who cost an initial £34m to sign from Roma last summer, has set all sorts of records during his first seven months on Merseyside after racking up 30 goals overall.

Former Reds striker Fowler, himself no stranger to finding the net on a regular basis during his time on Merseyside, believes that the 25-year-old should target 10 more goals between now and the end of the season.

"That is the aim of his [to reach 40 goals]. It's unbelievable what he's achieved so far," he told Sky Sports News. "I don't think anyone could've envisaged what would've happened. I think everyone knew he was a good player, but to get where he is at the speed he's done - it's frightening.

"I'm a Liverpool fan, I want Liverpool to score loads of goals, I want him to score loads of goals. I want Liverpool to be successful and if he keeps doing that it means we are on to something pretty good."

Twenty-two of Salah's goals this term have come in the Premier League, placing him one behind leading scorer Harry Kane in a tight race for the Golden Boot.
