Steven Gerrard insists that Liverpool will not get "carried away" following their victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield yesterday.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has insisted that the Merseyside club are taking their season game-by-game following their victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds fought back from 2-1 down to secure a 3-2 win over Spurs at Anfield yesterday courtesy of a late penalty from the England skipper.

While the victory places Liverpool seven points adrift of fourth place in the Premier League table, Gerrard has claimed that the Reds are not making any predictions about possibly finishing in a Champions League spot.

"Our form is good but we can't afford to get carried away just because we've beaten Tottenham," Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo. "We need to show what we've shown today in all of our remaining games. We want to finish above Everton and as high as we can in the league."

Liverpool, who are currently sixth in the table, will need to finish fifth in order to snatch a place in next season's Europa League.
