Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is looking forward to an upcoming run of games which sees them play seven times in 23 days, beginning away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri has said that he is excited about the club's upcoming run of fixtures, which starts with an away trip to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The Reds went into the first international break of the campaign top of the table courtesy of four wins from their opening four games - their best-ever start to a Premier League season.

Spurs represent their toughest opponents of the season so far, on paper at least, but Shaqiri is looking forward to the challenge and the hectic run of fixtures which follows.

"I'm looking forward to the game, especially now [because] in the next few weeks we have a lot of games, a lot of good games, difficult games. But we will try to keep our good performances and I hope we can win a lot of games," the Switzerland international told reporters.

"We train hard every day. You can see that there is a lot of quality in our team and we are hard-working every day. And competition in football is also good for the players."

Liverpool will play seven times in the space of 23 days beginning on Saturday, including two matches against Chelsea and Champions League showdowns with Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli.
