Jurgen Klopp prepared for "great challenge" against Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp acknowledges the "great challenge" Tottenham Hotspur will provide his side this weekend, four months after being thrashed in North London.

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool players that they must produce their "best performance" of the season if they are to overcome Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Reds were thrashed 4-1 in the reverse fixture four months ago in one of their lowest moments of the season, falling two down inside 12 minutes and shipping a third before the interval.

Liverpool have found more consistency since then and are two points better off than Tottenham ahead of Sunday's meeting at Anfield, but Klopp acknowledges the magnitude of the test his side face against their fellow top-four chasers.

"The Tottenham game at Wembley was not a good game for us, they had a good start, good middle and good end, that's why they won," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

"They have the most similar game to [Manchester] City, not the same but similar. To beat one of the best teams in England means we have to put in our best performance, it is a great challenge.

"I like games like this, when you know what they are going to do but it's difficult to deal with. Tottenham has to think about our strengths, we have to think about their strengths."

Liverpool returned to winning ways in midweek with a 3-0 victory at Huddersfield Town, having lost back-to-back games against Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion prior to that.
