Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is allegedly on the verge of signing a new two-year contract at Anfield.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly on the verge of signing a new two-year contract at Anfield.

The Egypt international has been in outstanding form for the Reds during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 32 goals and registering 22 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool recently saw their hopes of winning the Champions League end, while they were beaten by Newcastle United in the final of the EFL Cup, but Arne Slot's side are seemingly heading for success in the Premier League.

Wednesday's 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby moved the Reds 12 points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

Salah has been in outstanding form in England's top flight this term, scoring 27 goals and registering 17 assists in 30 appearances, but his contract is due to expire at the end of June.

Salah 'set to pen new two-year deal' at Liverpool

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the forward's future in recent months, but according to FootMercato, the saga could soon come to an end.

The report claims that Salah is now 'very close' to signing a new two-year deal at Anfield, with an announcement regarding the forward's future potentially arriving in the not too distant future.

Even if he were to leave this summer, Salah would go down as one of the greatest players to ever represent Liverpool, managing an incredible 243 goals and 110 assists in 393 appearances for the Merseyside giants.

Salah is set to win a second Premier League title for the Reds this term, following on from the success in 2019-20, and it looks like he will also be helping the club challenge for more silverware next term.

Saudi Pro League clubs would be prepared to make him one of the best-paid footballers in world football to move to the lucrative division this summer, but that option is still expected to be there in 2027.

Will Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold sign new deals?

While negotiations for Virgil van Dijk are continuing, it looks incredibly likely that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be on the move at the end of the season to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The speculation linking Alexander-Arnold with a switch to Bernabeu has gathered pace of late, and he is seemingly set to join the reigning European and Spanish champions when his contract expires at the end of June.

Van Dijk would also not be short of offers if it became clear that he was leaving Liverpool, but the Netherlands international is believed to be keen to stay with the Merseyside giants.

The 33-year-old has again been a dominant figure in the heart of the Liverpool defence during the 2024-25 campaign, and it would be a monumental blow for the Reds to lose a player of his stature, with a two-year deal for Van Dijk potentially also being agreed.
