Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool not active in January window'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that he intends to use the players available to him rather than bringing in a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is not actively seeking to bring in any more new players this month, but will not rule out making a signing if 'something jumps in his face'.

The Reds have already recruited Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a record-breaking £75m deal for a defender, offset by the £146m departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Liverpool have been linked with an array of players over the past fortnight, including the likes of James Rodriguez and Malcom - both seen as creative replacements for Coutinho - but Klopp is looking to get the most out of the players currently available to him.

"If something jumps in my face, maybe we would think about it but we don't actively try to find new players that we don't know," he told reporters at his weekly press conference.

"I've said it before, we have to use the players that we have. That makes sense. We have really high-quality players, especially Adam Lallana.

"He is not the replacement for Philippe Coutinho, he is a completely different player but a fantastic player. He is back, that is good. Are we active? No."

Liverpool have been one of the busiest sides in the January window, having also loaned out a number of younger players.
