Sime Vrsaljko signs new Atletico Madrid deal

Atletico Madrid announce that right-back Sime Vrsaljko has signed a new deal with the club.

Atletico Madrid have announced that right-back Sime Vrsaljko has signed a new deal with the club.

The Croat, who was linked with moves to Liverpool and Napoli, has penned an extension in the Spanish capital until 2021.

"I am very happy to be able to continue growing here, I feel very comfortable and I only think about working every day to be important in the team," the defender told Madrid's official website.

Liverpool currently have Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold available at right-back, with England international Nathaniel Clyne injured.

The Reds signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in their only acquisition during the January transfer window.
