Jose Mourinho: 'Living in Manchester hotel has been a disaster'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho admits that living in a hotel has been a "disaster" due to the constant paparazzi intrusion.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that living in a hotel has been a "disaster" due to the paparazzi intrusion.

The 53-year-old was appointed by the Red Devils in May, but he is yet to settle in the North-West city as his wife and two children continue living in London.

At the moment, Mourinho has set up home at the Lowry Hotel, but he has indicated that he is unhappy with his arrangements because he cannot leave the building freely without getting photographed.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Mourinho said: "For me it's a bit of a disaster because I want sometimes to walk a little bit and I can't. I just want to cross the bridge and go for a restaurant. I can't, so it is really bad."

Despite being five months into a three-year deal, the former Chelsea boss is undecided about whether or not to purchase a property in Manchester.

"Buy a house? I do not know. I do not know," said Mourinho. "But the reality is that my daughter will be 20 next week. My son will be 17 in a couple of months. They are very stable. University in London, football in London, friends.

"So, they are at an age where they can't chase me like they did before. So, for the first time, the family lives in a different way. We try to feel it, we try to see the evolution of our feelings and see how we cope with the situation.

"But maybe, if I can get a good apartment... not these giant houses that the press says I'm going to buy, I will never buy that, but if I find a nice apartment with a good connection from the garage to the apartment, maybe I do it."

Mourinho has guided United to just one Premier League victory since August, and attention turns to the EFL Cup as the club prepare to face local rivals Manchester City this evening at Old Trafford.
