Manchester United are reportedly out of the race to sign Rosenborg prodigy Sverre Nypan, whose representatives are discussing moves with Manchester City and Arsenal.

Manchester United have reportedly exited the race for Rosenborg youngster Sverre Nypan.

The Red Devils were extremely thankful to one of their academy products on Thursday night, when Amad Diallo bagged a hat-trick to secure victory over Southampton in the Premier League.

Nypan is another teenager who has been making serious waves on the continental stage this term, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in the Norwegian Eliteserien for Rosenborg.

Those statistics are particularly impressive considering that the 18-year-old largely operated in the middle of the park during the 2024 campaign.

Man United will be looking for much-needed back-to-back wins as they host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Theatre of Dreams for a Premier League contest on Sunday afternoon.

Man United exit race for next Odegaard?

According to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, Manchester United are no longer in the race to secure the services of midfielder Nypan in the near future.

The report claims that the Red Devils have fallen down the list of clubs trying to grab the signature of the highly-rated 18-year-old this year.

It is understood that Rosenborg value Nypan at £11m, with the Scandinavian outfit aiming to make a healthy sum from the sale of their biggest asset.

Whilst Ruben Amorim's troops are no longer in the running for the midfielder, it is understood that the player could still make a move to England.

Nypan's representatives supposedly remain in talks with Premier League powerhouses Arsenal and Manchester City over possible switches to the Emirates and the Etihad.

Man United unable to repeat the trick

Despite a lowly eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last term under Erik ten Hag, Man United still managed to secure one of Europe's most promising talents over the summer.

Facing competition from Spanish and European champions Real Madrid, the Red Devils impressively sealed the signature of centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille for £53m.

After injury heartbreak at the beginning of the term, the Frenchman is attempting to establish himself as part of the furniture in United's back three.

On a mission to lure even more young talent to Old Trafford, Amorim's men will have to look elsewhere following their reported failure in the hunt for Nypan, who has been touted as the next Martin Odegaard.
