Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admits that his side didn't deserve to get anything from their 1-0 defeat to West Ham at St James' Park.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that his side weren't good enough as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham United on Sunday.

Former Magpie Kevin Nolan netted just before the break at St James' Park to earn the Hammers a surprise win.

"We are kicking ourselves," said Pardew. "It was the West Ham performance we knew we were going to get but what we lacked was the verve and imagination to unlock them.

"We had eight or nine shots but none with any purpose or quality. Newcastle at home must score one, two, three or maybe four and we got none today."

Newcastle's third loss of the season has left them in 10th place in the Premier League table.
