Alan Pardew urges Newcastle United fans against walkout

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew urges fans against a walkout during Saturday's Premier League match against Cardiff City.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has urged fans against a walkout during Saturday's Premier League match against Cardiff City.

The Newcastle United Supporters' Trust have asked fans to leave St James' Park in the 69th minute of the match in a protest against their poor form and owner Mike Ashley.

The Magpies have lost their last six games in the league and have found the net just once in those fixtures, but Pardew believes that his players need the support of the crowd to help them return to winning ways.

"I don't think it's right. I really, really hope they don't do that," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"It's not about the board or me, it's about 11 players wearing the black and white of Newcastle at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. You're going to walk away after an hour and leave them to it?

"I just think the club has to come first sometimes and I think that is an occasion where this has to happen. The passion of the fans towards the club needs to come out because the team needs them."

Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League table, with 46 points from their 36 games this season.
