How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Brest

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for Saturday's Ligue 1 clash with Brest.

Paris Saint-Germain resume their pursuit of the Ligue 1 title with a trip to face newly-promoted Brest.

Thomas Tuchel's side will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Dijon in their last domestic game.

Moreover, they come up against a highly resolute Brest side currently sitting ninth in the table following a recent run that saw them claim three successive wins without conceding a goal.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Parisian side can line up for this fixture.

POSSIBLE PSG XI v BRE

Out: Neymar (hamstring), Thomas Meunier (thigh)
Doubtful: Thilo Kehrer (thigh), Leandro Paredes (illness)

Although most see PSG's team as a collection of superstars, Tuchel is quietly building towards cementing a long-term fullback partnership comprising of youngsters Colin Dagba and Abdou Diallo, who are 21 and 23 respectively

On the right, Dagba is Tuchel's only real option after a recurrence of Meunier's thigh injury, while Diallo - signed from Borussia Dortmund over the summer - has been used in conjunction with Juan Bernat down the left.

Prior to last weekend's defeat, during which Marquinhos started alongside Presnel Kimpembe in central defence, the latter had claimed 11 clean sheets from 15 Ligue 1 games alongside Thiago Silva, making it somewhat likely that the pair will be restored to the starting XI on Saturday.

Against a team employing a low block, however, the PSG side is likely to include Marquinhos as a more traditional holding midfielder, setting up passing sequences from the base of the midfield as a means of allowing the two other central players to have the ball higher up the pitch.

Completing the midfield will be the talismanic Marco Verratti and former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, whose energy in midfield has been a breath of fresh air for the French champions this term.

Having recently returned from injury and got himself on the scoresheet against Dijon, Kylian Mbappe looks likely to be used down the right-hand side, although Pablo Sarabia also has an outside chance of playing.

On the other side will be Angel Di Maria, whose excellent performances - reflected by having four goals and five assists in 12 games Ligue 1 games - have gone largely under the radar this term. The Argentine has been a regular starter in domestic games since August.

While Mauro Icardi, now with eight goals in all competitions this term, is enjoying himself in the number nine role, Tuchel may want to hand a start to Edinson Cavani, who has spent most of the season injured but came on as a substitute in PSG's previous three games.
