Casemiro feels that Real Madrid are capable of overcoming a first-leg deficit to progress past Manchester City in the Champions League last 16.

Casemiro has suggested that Real Madrid did not deserve to suffer a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Despite taking the lead in the first leg of the last-16 tie, Real eventually succumbed to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne.

Although disappointed with the result, Casemiro feels that Los Blancos had controlled the game until the closing quarter-of-an-hour at the Bernabeu.

The Brazilian is quoted by AS as saying: "The tie? No. If there's one team capable to turning this around it's Real Madrid.

"I think what's important is that we played really well for 75 minutes, against a great side, and for 15 minutes we didn't do what we had to, and they came back to win. It's not over, but there's a lot of work ahead."

The reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium takes place on March 17.
