Julian Draxler "happy" with Schalke 04 form

Julian Draxler believes that Schalke 04 can finish second in the Bundesliga if they manage to maintain their current form.

Schalke 04 winger Julian Draxler has insisted that his side have a good chance of Champions League qualification if they manage to maintain their current run of form.

Die Knappen moved up to second in the Bundesliga table with Friday night's win over Hertha Berlin.

"You could tell we were running out of energy a bit towards the end, particularly when going forward," Bundesliga.com quotes Draxler as saying.

"Of course everyone's happy with another win and another three points. It's nice that we've got a normal week coming up so we can recover a little. We even have a little longer to rest because we've played on Friday.

"We weren't that great offensively – we can do better. I'm in the process of changing my game slightly, improving my work rate and helping out more defensively. The distance I cover, and the number sprints in particular, has gone up in recent games. I'm going through a transitional phase, but I think I'm on the right track."

Schalke are 23 points behind Bayern Munich, who have already wrapped up the title.
