Jose Mourinho reportedly turned down an offer of £12m from Real Madrid to snub Tottenham Hotspur and wait for Los Blancos to sack manager Zinedine Zidane.
Following almost a year out of the game, the Portuguese has returned to management at the North London club, winning his opening three games against West Ham United, Olympiacos and Bournemouth.
Having managed Madrid between 2010 and 2013, Mourinho was heavily linked with a return to the Bernabeu following the club's disastrous 2018-19 campaign.
According to The Sun, the La Liga side was willing to shell out £12m in order to guarantee that Mourinho would ignore Spurs and wait until the Madrid job became available.
The Portuguese manager also reportedly attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund, Lyon, AC Milan and several Chinese clubs.
However, Mourinho was determined to stay put until another job in the Premier League came along.
