The agent of Tottenham Hotspur's Radu Dragusin reveals that the player could leave despite only joining the club in January.

Radu Dragusin's agent has hinted that the Tottenham Hotspur defender could leave the club due to his lack of playing time.

The Romania international joined Spurs in the January transfer window after impressing during his time with Serie A club Genoa.

Dragusin spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Genoa from Juventus, before he joined Alberto Gilardino's side on a permanent basis last summer.

The 22-year-old started all 19 of Genoa's Serie A matches in the first half of the game, but he has been unable to enjoy a similar run of games since arriving in North London.

Prior to Sunday's clash with Liverpool, Dragusin has featured in just six Premier League matches, with four of those appearances coming as a substitute.

Dragusin open to Spurs departure

Dragusin has been unable to force his way ahead of Ange Postecoglou's first-choice centre-back pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

With Dragusin struggling for regular minutes, his agent, Florin Manea, has indicated that he could leave if the situation does not improve in the future.

Manea told Radio CRC: "If he doesn't play we'll have to think of other solutions but, at the moment, I don't think so because he only arrived in January.

"Then you never know in life, let's hope not, but you never know. If he (Postecoglou) told him that (he would remain third choice), I don't think Dragusin would stay and not play.

"He must have patience, he has two important players in front of him, in the end he will find space. The coach has said many times that he doesn't want to play three [at the back], he knows better, but he concedes a lot of goals for Tottenham.

"Playing with three gives you more security that you won't concede too many goals. Tottenham concede a lot of goals from set pieces, I think Dragusin will find space in the future because Tottenham need his power."

Could Conte influence Dragusin's future?

Dragusin was linked with a move to Italian giants Napoli, before he opted to swap Serie A for the Premier League in January.

However, with former Spurs boss Antonio Conte currently being linked with the Napoli job, Dragusin's agent was asked if the potential appointment could persuade Dragusin to join the Partenopei.

"Conte is one of the best in the world," Manea added. "It would be an honour to work with him, but right now it's difficult to say what will happen.

"If a loan offer arrived from Napoli, with Conte there, it would have to be evaluated. When you work with someone like Conte, you learn on many levels."

Dragusin's bid to gain more playing time could become even tougher, with Spurs expected to recruit a new centre-back in the summer transfer window.

Out-of-contract Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been one of the names linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the 2024-25 season.
