Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson reveals that he is "hopeful" that teammate Gareth Bale will remain at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted that it would be "fantastic" if teammate Gareth Bale remains at the club.

Bale has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, but Sigurdsson wants the Welsh international to remain at White Hart Lane to continue to attract other world-class players to the team.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "Good players want to play with other big players.

"It's a big club and hopefully he'll stay and we'll bring in a few other good players. He's a great player and if he stays it will be fantastic. I'm sure he will stay."

Spurs are currently in Hong Kong preparing for their Asia Cup third-place playoff with South China on Saturday.
