Report: Alvaro Arbeloa to leave West Ham United in January

A report claims that experienced defender Alvaro Arbeloa will leave West Ham United in January, despite only joining the English club last summer.

Alvaro Arbeloa will reportedly leave West Ham United in the January transfer window, despite only moving to the Premier League club on transfer deadline day last summer.

The Hammers fought off competition from a number of clubs to sign the experienced Spaniard on a free transfer following his release from Real Madrid.

However, the 33-year-old has struggled to make an impression on his return to England, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the full-back's agent is in contact with a number of clubs ahead of the winter window.

It is believed that there is strong interest from La Liga in the 56-time Spain international, who has only started one Premier League game for West Ham since his arrival on August 31.

Arbeloa spent two years with Liverpool between 2007 and 2009 before returning to first club Real Madrid.
