AC Milan's Ignazio Abate pleased with victory over Sampdoria

AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate praises his team's performance during their 2-0 win over Sampdoria.

AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate has praised the performance of his teammates during their 2-0 victory over Sampdoria at the weekend.

Adel Taarabt and Adil Rami scored in each half to earn the Rossoneri a second consecutive league win, and Abate said that he is keen for them to keep improving on their recent positive results.

"We played our game, we started well and we played like we can but today shouldn't be an exception, we have to find continuity to these results," he told the club's official website.

"We played a big game today. Samp have a strong attack and they tried to play an open game but we did well to respond the way we did. We shouldn't set ourselves limits, we've been through some tough times and they're not necessarily behind us now, so let's just keep our heads down and work hard.

"We have to show that we're improving and there are many factors ahead of the Champions League match. We have to perform like we know how and then we'll see."

Milan are currently ninth in the Serie A table.
