Fabrizio Ravanelli praises "immense" Ajaccio

Fabrizio Ravanelli says that Ajaccio were "immense" in claiming a point against Montpellier HSC at home.

Ajaccio coach Fabrizio Ravanelli has praised his players for the way that they battled back to earn a point at home against Montpellier HSC.

The Corsican outfit were reduced to 10 men early in the game when Claude Goncalves was adjudged to have handled on the line, which allowed Remy Cabella the opportunity to fire La Pallaide into the lead.

However, Ronald Zubar struck to restore parity in the 36th minute, before the teams were evened up by Yassine Jebbour's red card moments later.

Ravanelli believes that his team did enough to deserve all three points at the Stade Francois Coty and is still pleased with the way that they have started the campaign.

"We played really well again," Ligue1.com quotes the 44-year-old as saying. "The players were immense, physically and mentally.

"They started well, but the sending-off of Claude Goncalves was a big blow. However, they found the mental resources to come back. I think we even deserved to win the game. Before these last two matches, I would have settled for four points and the outcome is satisfactory.

"I always said that the first two months of the season would be the most difficult. We have found our rhythm and the confidence is coming back. We need to carry on in this manner because the season is still long."

Ajaccio are 16th in Ligue 1.
