Olivier Giroud wary of Monaco threat

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud warns the Gunners that they cannot afford to take Monaco lightly in their last-16 Champions League tie.

Olivier Giroud has warned his Arsenal teammates of the dangers involved in being complacent ahead of their last-16 Champions League tie with Monaco.

The Gunners avoided the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid in what was widely believed to be a kind draw for Arsene Wenger's side, who finished second behind Borussia Dortmund in the group stages.

Monaco, who finished runners-up to Porto in 2004, beat Arsenal in the Emirates Cup last summer, and Giroud says that victory is far from a foregone conclusion.

"Even though Monaco do not have a lot of experience in this competition, they reached the final a few year ago and they have beaten us in the Emirates Cup," he told Telefoot.

"It will be difficult. We go into this match with the ambition to do something. We have to take notice of what we've learned from last season."

The North Londoners host Monaco at the Emirates on February 25, before flying to the principality for the return leg on March 17.
