Robert Pires: 'Arsenal need to be perfect to overcome Monaco threat'

Robert Pires believes that Arsenal need to play the "perfect game" against Monaco in order to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Former Arsenal star Robert Pires has admitted that Arsene Wenger's team need to play the "perfect game" against Monaco to have any hope of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Gunners face an uphill struggle in France this evening following the first leg of their last-16 clash, which ended in a shock 3-1 defeat at the Emirates.

"In my opinion, it was an accident against Monaco," Pires told the Daily Star. "It's not finished. Arsenal still have a great opportunity to go through. I think anything is possible, but they need to play the perfect game."

The last time that a team scored at least three goals against Monaco was back on August 17.
