Mesut Ozil out for three months

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil will spend the next three months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The German Football Federation have revealed that a knee injury will keep Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil out of action for three months.

The 25-year-old suffered the complaint during Sunday afternoon's 2-0 defeat away at Chelsea, but it was deemed not to be overly serious and he was granted permission to link up with the German national side ahead of their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying matches.

However, while in his homeland, Ozil has undergone a scan, which showed that he had a "partial lateral collateral ligament tear in left knee".

It is anticipated that the former Real Madrid midfielder will now return to Arsenal, where he will start his recovery programme.
