How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Sunday's North London derby against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal in the first North London derby of the season on Sunday.

Spurs will be looking to bounce back from their shock home defeat to Newcastle United last time out.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have not looked themselves so far this term, needing to rally late on to beat Aston Villa on opening day after trailing for over an hour, before a VAR-assisted draw against Manchester City and the 1-0 loss to the Magpies.

There have been issues surrounding several key players, with Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen finding themselves left out as speculation grows over their futures, with Bayer Leverkusen reportedly interested in the latter, while Dele Alli has been working his way back from injury.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Spurs could line up for Sunday's showdown.

Possible TOT XI vs. ARS

Out: Juan Foyth (ankle), Tanguy Ndombele (thigh), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), Kyle Walker-Peters (thigh)
Doubtful: Eric Dier (hip), Dele Alli (thigh)

Captain Hugo Lloris will take his usual place between the sticks, likely behind a central defensive partnership of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez. Vertonghen has yet to feature this season and it seems he will continue to be left out until the problem is resolved.

Danny Rose should start ahead of Ben Davies at left-back, but Pochettino has something of an injury crisis at right-back.

Since the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, Kyle Walker-Peters has been the first choice on that side, but he is out through injury alongside Juan Foyth and, like Vertonghen, Serge Aurier has yet to feature this season amidst exit rumours, meaning Moussa Sissoko could be forced to fill in on the right of defence.

Ahead of them, if Sissoko does start at right-back and Eric Dier does not recover from injury in time to start, then it could mean Harry Winks plays as the lone anchor behind Eriksen and new signing Giovani Lo Celso. Pochettino may have no choice but to start his star playmaker despite the uncertainty around his future, while he may also be forced to hand Lo Celso his debut in an unforgiving environment.

Further forward, however, Spurs still have plenty of quality. A front three of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Lucas Moura possesses goals, work-rate and plenty of skill, and the trident will have to perform at their best if Spurs are to come away with maximum points.
