Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hails his players for coming from one goal behind to snatch a point in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Southampton in the Premier League.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has paid tribute to his players for coming from one goal behind to snatch a point in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Southampton in the Premier League.

The Gunners fell behind to an early Charlie Austin goal, but Olivier Giroud netted two minutes from time to ensure that the London club would avoid back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

Wenger has admitted that Southampton made it "difficult" for Arsenal, but the Frenchman was pleased to earn a late point.

"It was difficult game and I felt that we paid a heavy price for a slow start. We kept going. It was game of high intensity," Wenger told BBC Sport.

"In the second half it was all us but they defended well. We played with many strikers. Overall, I think the spirit was great. We were relentless to the end."

The result has left Arsenal in fifth position in the Premier League table - 14 points off the league leaders Manchester City.
