Jose Mourinho defends Diego Costa

Jose Mourinho defends Diego Costa following Chelsea's 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho has defended Diego Costa following Chelsea's 2-0 victory over nine-man Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Arsene Wenger was left frustrated after the match, saying that Costa 'deserved two red cards', after the Spanish striker was involved in a scuffle with Gabriel Paulista in the first half, moments after catching Laurent Koscielny with a flailing arm

However, Mourinho is defending Costa's 'man-of-the-match' performance and says that he sees 'no controversy' with his side's win over the Gunners.

"If you want to speak about Diego Costa with me, it is just to say he played how he has to play and that's why you have full stadiums and you sell televisions around the world for millions and millions because the game has to be played like that," the Portuguese manager told Sky Sports News.

"That's why tomorrow I go for what I consider comparable in terms of dedication and passion, to New Zealand against Argentina [in the Rugby World Cup]. I go tomorrow because I love it. Fantastic Diego Costa."

Arsenal received a second red card towards the end of the game, as Santi Cazorla picked up a second yellow for a late tackle on Cesc Fabregas.
