Laurent Koscielny: 'Heel injury won't stop me playing for Arsenal'

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny reveals that an ongoing heel injury, which he first suffered in October 2014, will not stop him from playing for the club.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has revealed that an ongoing heel injury, which he first suffered in October 2014, will not stop him from playing for the club.

Koscielny, who was diagnosed with chronic tendinitis in both feet by the French footballing authorities, now requires daily treatment on the problem.

The Frenchman has been a key figure for the Gunners this term, but has not played three games in a week since April.

"I don't think about if I will stop in one year or two years," Koscielny told the Evening Standard. "I know I need to play like this for the end of my career but I want to play more and more years for Arsenal.

"I manage myself and do everything with my physio, with everyone who can help me, to lower the pain on my Achilles. I still have a little bit of pain but if I manage myself with the boss, I am ok to play games.

"I know it is not a big injury but every day I need to be careful about the pain I can have. So I try to manage a little bit, to change some things around me - my preparation, my stretching, everything - so I try if it can help me to better and with no pain, I am happy."

The 32-year-old has made 301 appearances for Arsene Wenger's side and has formed a fruitful defensive partnership this season with fellow centre-backs Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal.
