Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil pays tribute to manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the Frenchman's 1,000th game in charge.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has expressed his gratitude towards manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the Frenchman's 1,000th game in charge.

Wenger will reach the milestone at Stamford Bridge tomorrow when his side take on Chelsea in the Premier League.

The Gunners boss is said to have played a pivotal role in bringing Ozil to the Emirates from Real Madrid last summer for a reported £42.5m fee.

Ozil wrote on his Facebook page: "On Saturday the boss will celebrate his 1000th game at Arsenal. what a number. we couldn't imagine the Gunners without him. it was him who brought me to London. thank you for your trust! ‪#‎Wenger1000‬"

Arsenal are currently third in the league table, four points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
