Harry Redknapp: 'Queens Park Rangers denied stonewall penalty against Arsenal'

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp says that Bobby Zamora "could not believe" he was not awarded a penalty late on against Arsenal.

Harry Redknapp is adamant that Queens Park Rangers were denied a solid penalty decision late on against Arsenal which cost his side a share of the spoils.

The Hoops found themselves two goals behind heading into the final 15 minutes at the Emirates Stadium, despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men following Olivier Giroud's headbutt on Nedum Onuoha shortly into the second half.

Charlie Austin converted a penalty to give his side some hope, although Redknapp believes that referee Martin Atkinson should have pointed to the spot for a second time in the closing stages when Bobby Zamora was brought down by Kieran Gibbs inside the area.

"Bobby couldn't believe he didn't get the decision," the 67-year-old told reporters. "It was a penalty, no doubt about that. He got dragged down for sure."

"It wasn't until it was 2-1 that we really started to take the game to them. I felt we weren't positive enough when it was 1-0 against 10 men. To go two down was a massive blow. It was a good opportunity against 10 men for us to pick up a point."

QPR, who are now 16th in the Premier League table, return to action on Sunday when they take on Crystal Palace.
