Wojciech Szczesny cools Arsenal title talk

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny plays down talk of the Gunners winning the title this season.

Wojciech Szczesny has played down suggestions that Arsenal are among the dark horses to win the Premier League this season.

Having welcomed over £65m worth of talent to the club this summer, the Gunners have been tipped to follow up their FA Cup success last term with a first league title since 2004.

Arsene Wenger's side head into the new campaign off the back of a morale-boosting 3-0 win over champions Manchester City in last Sunday's Community Shield.

However, the Arsenal goalkeeper says that nobody in the squad is dreaming of a league crown just yet, and rejects suggestions that their spending spree has placed added pressure on them.

"I don't think there's pressure at the moment," he told reporters.

"We took a lot of that pressure off by winning the FA Cup at the end of last season and had a very good game in the Community Shield against Man City.

"There's not too much pressure on winning the title yet, we're not thinking about that. We just want to kick off the season well and win the first game."

All three of the club's outfield recruits - Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy - are expected to start this evening's visit of Crystal Palace.
