Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has said that he is determined to fill the boots of sidelined captain Vincent Kompany in the coming weeks.
Kompany limped off during City's midweek Europa League loss to Sporting Lisbon and is now expected to miss a period of two weeks.
However Toure, who has not been a regular in Roberto Mancini's side this campaign, wants to put his difficult season to date behind him and play a key role in City's title run-in.
"We have a big squad and every time the manager needs a player to step up and give his best, we have to do it," said Toure.
"For me, I will give 100%, like I usually do. I am more angry than ever after all the difficult time I had.
"I just want to play and play well for my team."
The 30-year-old joined the Premier League leaders from Arsenal in 2009.
