Arsene Wenger rubbishes claims that he is close to signing a two-year extension to his contract with Arsenal.

Manager Arsene Wenger has described speculation that he is close to extending his contract with Arsenal as "wrong information".

Reports over the weekend had claimed that the club's board were prepared to offer the 63-year-old an additional two seasons at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the Frenchman has insisted that no such discussions have taken place.

"That is the wrong information. I have worked for 16 years here in England and I deserve a bit more credit than wrong information that only has one intention - to harm," he told reporters. "This is the wrong information that has come from nowhere. It is completely wrong."

Wenger took charge of the Gunners in August 1996.
