Arsene Wenger believes that football's image has improved in the wake of Fabrice Muamba's situation.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that the image of football has improved in the wake of Fabrice Muamba's life-threatening situation.

Muamba, who is still in intensive care after suffering a cardiac arrest during Bolton Wanderers' FA Cup tie last weekend, is understood to be showing signs of improvement. Meanwhile, Wenger has praised the world of football for its response.

"If one guy out of a thousand does something silly, in another job they are not in the papers," the Frenchman said in the club's official matchday programme.

"But in our job, because it is a public job, people speak about it.

"Overall I feel that it is sad what happened to Fabrice, but the one positive is that it looks like he is recovering well. Also, the image that football has given is positive."

Bolton beat Blackburn Rovers in their return to action this weekend.
