Nigel Reo-Coker: Fabrice Muamba recovery is "a miracle"

Bolton skipper Nigel Reo Coker hails Fabrice Muamba's recovery from cardiac arrest as "a miracle".

Bolton Wanderers captain Nigel Reo-Coker had admitted that it was tough seeing Fabrice Muamba in hospital but is delighted by his teammate's 'miraculous' recovery.

Muamba is gradually improving from the cardiac arrest he suffered during Bolton's abandoned FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur.

Trotters trio Darren Pratley, Mark Davies and Reo-Coker visited their midfield colleague in the London Chest Hospital earlier this week and the latter is amazed by the progress of the 23-year-old.

"We were in for about a minute, maximum. He said, 'All right Nige'. He was obviously not speaking so well because he was still a bit drugged up," revealed Reo-Coker.

"To see him lying there with all the tubes was tough. He asked what happened and I couldn't answer him. I was too choked up.

"He's still in a very serious condition but just to see him after what I saw on the pitch and the news we got in the dressing room - for your heart to stop beating for that long - just to be alive and recognise anyone, it's a miracle."

Bolton will hold several pre-match tributes to Muamba before their game with Blackburn Rovers this afternoon.
