Marco Asensio 'wants emergency Real Madrid talks'

Marco Asensio reportedly requests 'emergency talks' with Real Madrid over suggestions that Arsenal want to sign him this summer.

Marco Asensio has reportedly requested 'emergency talks' with Real Madrid over suggestions that Arsenal want to sign the Spaniard in this summer's transfer window.

Asensio, 21, scored 10 times in 38 appearances for Madrid last season, and it is thought that the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City all covert the versatile attacker.

According to The Mirror, Asensio has no interest in leaving Spain, but wants a new contract at the Bernabeu to reflect his growing importance to the team.

The report adds that Arsenal are prepared to activate Asensio's £72m release clause, and the attacker will look to use the interest to ensure that his salary is improved.

Asensio, who is a three-time Spain international, joined Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014, but did not make his first-team debut for Los Blancos until last season after a loan spell at Espanyol.
