Manchester City priced out of Robin van Persie deal?

Manchester City reportedly end their pursuit of Arsenal forward Robin van Persie because they are unwilling to offer him wages of more than £150,000 per week.

Manchester City have reportedly been ruled out of the race to sign Arsenal forward Robin van Persie because of their unwillingness to match his pay demands.

The Dutchman, who turns 29 next month, has expressed his desire to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

City, Manchester United and Juventus were understood to be competing for the player's signature.

However, according to The Mirror, City manager Roberto Mancini has been told by football administration officer Brian Marwood that the club are not prepared to offer Van Persie a weekly wage of over £150,000 due to his age and injury record.

Yaya Toure is currently the highest-paid player at the Etihad Stadium, receiving a reported £225,000 per week.
