Roma will allegedly turn down the opportunity to sign Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles on a permanent deal.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly expected to return to Arsenal at the end of his loan stay with Roma.

During the January transfer window, the versatile Englishman was allowed to move to Stadio Olimpico for the rest of the season having struggled for game time in North London.

While the 24-year-old has been provided with six starts and one substitute outing in all competitions thus far, he has not featured since February 19.

According to Roma Today, the Italian giants are now highly unlikely to push through a permanent deal for Maitland-Niles.

The report suggests that Nicola Zalewski's recent performances at wing-back will lead to Roma opting against spending a significant chunk of their summer budget on their January arrival.

Maitland-Niles's contract at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire in 2023, likely leading to an exit from the Premier League side ahead of the next campaign.
