Aston Villa striker Darren Bent admits that he is frustrated by the lack of playing time he has had at Villa Park this season.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has admitted that he is "angry" about the amount time of he has spent on the bench this season.

The England international has been overlooked by boss Paul Lambert, who has preferred a striking attack of Christian Benteke, Andreas Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Bent told reporters: "It's frustrating and I do get angry at times. If I'm called upon against Wigan I'm ready to go.

"Christian is out, which is going to be a big loss because he's had a fantastic season. But if I can get the nod, then it would be nice to play a part again.

"I thought maybe I would have come on against Chelsea last Saturday when Christian was sent off. But it wasn't meant to be. I was disappointed because I'd like to play in all the games. I want to play as often as I possibly can."

Bent moved to Villa in January 2011 in a £24m move from Sunderland.
