Aston Villa's Simon Dawkins has revealed his wish that the club retain their status as a Premier League club.
The 25-year-old joined Villa on a six-month basis from league rivals Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day.
Despite the fact that his new team are in the relegation zone, Dawkins is hopeful that Villa's fortunes will be altered soon.
"Anything I can do to get Villa out of trouble I will. I want to help the club stay up and save them from relegation," Dawkins told the Express & Star. "Things can turn quickly. One week you are in the relegation zone but a few wins and you are out of it. Let's hope we can get that going and save ourselves.
"Fresh faces always help any team and hopefully we can all gel together and find a way to get out of this."
Dawkins has yet to make his debut for the Birmingham-based side.
