Paul Lambert: 'Aston Villa are a bigger club than West Bromwich Albion'

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says that his side are bigger than their local rivals West Bromwich Albion ahead of Monday's derby clash.

Paul Lambert has said the he regards Aston Villa as a "bigger" club than West Bromwich Albion.

The two teams meet in the West Midlands derby on Monday evening, with Villa's manager insisting that his side are still regarded as superior, despite finishing below Albion in the league last season.

"Aston Villa is a massive club. I don't think anyone can ever dispute that," he told Sky Sports News. "It's a club that's won a European Cup, league titles, has a massive fan-base and has a bigger stadium.

"That's no disrespect to West Brom at all - they're a good club in their own right.

"I haven't been at West Brom or managed the club but Aston Villa, for me, is a bigger club."

Villa are currently 12th in the Premier League table.
