Aston Villa have announced that captain Stiliyan Petrov will lead out the team in their lap of appreciation on Saturday.
The 33-year-old today announced his retirement from professional football 14 months after he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia.
Following the Bulgarian's decision, the club have chosen him to lead the traditional lap after their final home game of the season against Chelsea on Saturday.
Petrov has revealed that he plans to set up a new charity helping those dealing with the disease.
