Mauricio Pinilla stunner downs Cagliari

Mauricio Pinilla scores an overhead kick in stoppage time to help Atalanta BC claim a 2-1 win over Cagliari in a bottom-of-the-table Serie A clash.

Mauricio Pinilla scored a stoppage-time winner as Atalanta BC earned a vital 2-1 victory against fellow strugglers Cagliari in Serie A this afternoon.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Giuseppe Biava headed in from Cristiano Del Grosso's cross.

Cagliari reacted well to falling behind and they were almost level when Maximiliano Moralez picked out Davide Zappacosta at the back post, but he could only place his header wide.

The visitors did manage to equalise in the 44th minute as Daniele Dessena slotted the ball in following a corner.

They were very nearly ahead moments later when Pinilla saw his header tipped over the bar from another set piece.

Pinilla came close again after the break, but he blazed wildly over the bar after working some room inside the box.

It seemed as if the game would end in a draw, until the fourth minute of stoppage time when Pinilla met Luca Cigarini's cross with an overhead kick to seal the points for the hosts in style.
