Athletic Bilbao thrash 10-man Getafe at San Mames

Two goals from Aritz Aduriz and strikes from Ibai Gomez and Markel Sasaeta help Athletic Bilbao beat Getafe 4-0 in La Liga.

A brace from Aritz Aduriz helped Athletic Bilbao to a 4-0 win at home to Getafe in La Liga.

Aduriz went close to giving his side the lead in the 21st minute when his right-footed shot from a Benat through ball went narrowly wide.

Ibai Gomez also went close from long range, but the game was drifting towards half time without a goal until Getafe conceded a penalty and had a man sent off.

Emiliano Velazquez was given his marching orders for a foul on Borja Viguera, and Aduriz converted the penalty with a low drive.

The striker netted his second shortly after the break when he slotted the ball into the back of the net from Andoni Iraola's pass.

Gomez made it 3-0 in the 79th minute when he headed Markel Susaeta's cross into the back of the net, while Susaeta got his own name on the scoresheet with a tap in at the back post in stoppage time.
