Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has admitted that Luis Enrique struggled to implement his ideas on the Italian club during his time in Rome.
Enrique took charge of the Italians in 2011 after leaving his post with Barcelona B, but lasted just one season at the helm after Roma finished seventh in Serie A.
The coach subsequently moved on to Celta Vigo in 2013, before joining Barcelona, whom he led to the treble in his first campaign in charge last season.
De Rossi has revealed that the Spaniard "had a difficult time in Rome", but has praised the managerial qualities of the 45-year-old.
"Luis Enrique had a difficult time in Rome. The people did not understand him," Sport quotes De Rossi as saying.
"I liked that Enrique won the treble last season because he's a great person and I've always known he was a good coach."
Barcelona will face Roma in the group stages of the Champions League on Wednesday.
