How Barcelona could line up against Dynamo Kiev

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up for their Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday evening.

Barcelona will endeavour to make it three wins out of three in the 2020-21 Champions League when they welcome Ukrainian powerhouses Dynamo Kiev to Camp Nou on Wednesday evening.

Ronald Koeman's men have taken maximum points from fixtures with Ferencvaros and Juventus so far - scoring seven and conceding just one - with the Catalan giants in search of their first Champions League crown since 2015.

However, La Blaugrana have struggled domestically and stretched their winless run in La Liga to four games at the weekend, with Barcelona unable to overcome 10-man Alaves, who held the Catalan giants to a 1-1 draw on Halloween.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Barca could line up for the visit of Dynamo Kiev on matchday three.

Unlike the visitors, who announced several positive coronavirus cases to add to their ever-growing list of absentees, Barcelona have no fresh injury concerns heading into the midweek round of Champions League matches.

Samuel Umtiti is still out for the long-term, although Marc-Andre ter Stegen is said to be closing in on a return to action following a lengthy layoff for a knee problem.

Koeman will want to have his first-choice shot-stopper back as soon as possible - with Neto at fault for Alaves' opener at the weekend - but Ter Stegen is unlikely to be back in time for the visit of Dynamo Kiev so Neto should retain his spot in goal for now.

Gerard Pique was suspended for last week's trip to Juventus but is available for this one, allowing Koeman to breathe a sigh of relief with fellow centre-back Ronald Araujo set for a couple of weeks on the sidelines after picking up a muscle injury.

Pique is set to partner Clement Lenglet in the heart of defence, while the full-backs spots will likely be occupied by Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest - the latter of whom came off the bench for the final 20 minutes at the weekend.

Further up the field, Miralem Pjanic is in contention to replace Sergio Busquets next to Frenkie de Jong, as Busquets picked up a booking before being hauled off at half time against Alaves, meaning that there could be a youthful look to Barcelona's attack on Wednesday.

Lionel Messi is a shoo-in to start behind Antoine Griezmann, with 20-year-old Trincao and 17-year-old Pedri potentially providing the width, with fellow teenager Ansu Fati starting against Alaves but unable to build on his prolific start to the campaign.
