Experienced defender Filipe Luis closes in on a move to Barcelona, according to a report.

Experienced defender Filipe Luis is reportedly closing in on a move to Barcelona.

Luis will see his contract with Atletico Madrid expire at the end of this month and it is understood that the 33-year-old will not be penning an extension at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to Marca, Barca are set to sign the Brazilian on a free transfer, with the move to be completed in a 'matter of days'.

The left-back re-joined Atletico from Chelsea in 2015 and made 32 appearances for the capital giants during the 2018-19 campaign, contributing two goals and three assists.

Should Luis arrive at Camp Nou then he would provide competition for Jordi Alba on the left side of defence.

However, Barca have also been linked with a move for Real Betis full-back Firpo Junior as Ernesto Valverde looks to improve his squad ahead of the 2019-20 season.
